In Gottfried Steiner’s award-winning restaurant, “Gasthaus Großvenediger” in Prägraten in the Virgen Valley region of East Tyrol, gourmet food and regional specialities are high on the menu.His wife Birgit and her team delight the guests with a wide range of specialities, such as mouth-watering game and fish dishes as well as sumptuous dishes from East Tyrol.

Children have their own special colour-in menu to keep them amused.

We have always had a great passion for gastronomy and we put our heart and soul into our business and try to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our guests that will make dining with us a truly special experience. At the end of the day, eating and drinking is one of the greatest and oldest cultural assets of all.

Is there any greater pleasure than this?

The first time Gottfried Steiner entered the mystery guest competition, he was awarded the title of best Tyrolean proprietor of the year “Tiroler Genuss Wirt des Jahres”: “We wanted to present our house simply as it is, and this evidently also convinced the mystery tester.”

Sommelier and holder of the Diploma in Wines and Spirits from WSET, Gottfried Steiner has every right to be proud of a well-assorted wine list and a wide selection of spirits from the region. Of course, he can also be proud of the homemade apple and elderberry juice made by his wife, Birgit.
